He received his B.S. degree from MIT, his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), and a postdoctoral fellowship from Caltech. He has been active in researching superconductors, magnetic nanocomposites, magnetocaloric effects, heat capacities, and magnetic domain imaging. He also helped write the National Nanotechnology Initiative in 2001, and is the son of Clifford G. Shull, the 1994 Nobel Laureate in Physics. |
