Carpenter Technology Corporation is currently seeking a Metallurgist / Materials Scientist with experience with soft magnetic alloys, semi-hard magnetic alloys, expansion alloys, heating elements and resistance alloys.
Candidate must possess first hand experience with AC and DC magnetic tests methods including ASTM procedures, and a familiarity with expansion testing and other general metallurgical laboratory test methods. Experience in analyzing alloy microstructures and how they are related to material properties and processing, and excellent skills related to quantitative analysis of experimental data to provide guidance/solutions to mill problems and customer problems are also required.
Position requires Ph.D. or M.S. in Materials Science, Metallurgy or Physics with the emphasis on graduate studies on soft magnetic materials. Some industrial experience preferred. Good communication skills and evidence of creative thinking is required. Position includes responsibility in identifying and developing new products, and technical support of product and process engineering functions.

The ideal candidate should have MS Physics or Engineering degree, a sound track record in selling engineering software, experience managing a sales and support team, a background in computational electromagnetics, and experience in the engineering applications we sell into, such as electrical machines.
